Course Overview
This course is focused on basic bone grafting techniques in developing partially edentulous sites for dental implant therapy.
The didactic topics will include discussion on:
- Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR)
- The use of particulate grafts and membranes
- Flap management for tension free primary closure
- Management of extraction sites and ridge/socket preservation.
The hands-on portion will include:
- The use of pig mandibles to practice various GBR procedures with various particulate grafts and membranes
- How to harvest autogenous particulate bone
- Flap management
- Suturing techniques.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Two weeks prior to course date – 100% refund. One week prior to course date – 50% refund. There is no refund for cancellations after one week prior to course date.

Biography
Dr. Jim Yuan Lai is Discipline Head and Graduate Director of Periodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. He received his dental training at the University of Pennsylvania and completed his Master of Science and Master of Education at the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, Pierre Fauchard Academy, International College of Dentists and American College of Dentist. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is also a Dental Officer reservist in the Canadian Forces.
