Course Overview
David Chong Yen, C.A. and David Rosenthal, LL.B. join Dr. Robert Carroll as panel experts to educate dentists about Tax Savings, Risk Management and Legal Issues for Dentists. At this evening seminar dentists will:
- Receive invaluable tips and maneuvers to save taxes including: how to avoid errors when setting up professional corporations, what's new for 2010 and beyond, and tax saving ideas when buying/selling a practice.
- Learn about legal issues relating to dental practices and when selling/buying dental practices and how to reduce legal exposure on such transactions.
- Learn about common transitional issues experienced by dentists involved in the sale of a practice and how to create strategies to minimize the risk of damaging consequences for both the dentists and the practice if these transitional issues are not anticipated and planned for.
The seminar will be of interest and benefit to all dentists. At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Understand tax saving ideas
- Gain valuable information to reduce legal exposure and manage risk when selling/buying dental practices
- Take practical steps to help avoid transitional problems associated with the change of ownership of a dental practice.

Biographies
David Chong Yen advises dentists on tax, estate and financial planning, valuations and accounting. Mr. Chong Yen has been a speaker at various dental schools and associations across Ontario and has published numerous tax articles for the dental community.
David Rosenthal is a senior lawyer whose practice is devoted to corporate, commercial and business law, with special emphasis on advising and consulting for the dental profession. Mr. Rosenthal publishes articles regularly and lectures frequently regarding legal matters affecting dentists.
Dr. Robert Carroll is the Assistant Dean, University of Toronto, Continuing Dental Education and Professional Relations. Prior to joining the Faculty, Dr. Carroll had a successful general practice for 28 years. After selling his practice he joined the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and was Manager of Professional Practice for 7 years.
