Course Overview
This one-and-a-half-day Periodontal Surgery is suitable for the entire dental team. The didactic sessions will cover topics including patient preparation, gingivectomy, periodontal flap surgery, mucogingival surgery, pre-prosthetic periodontal surgery, regenerative periodontal surgery and crown lengthening. Atypical post-operative pain and infection problems will also be discussed. Two surgical cases will be performed live and the participants will partake in a hands-on laboratory exercise.
Course Objectives
At the completion, participants should have learned and been exposed to the following:
- Rationale, diagnosis and case selection for various periodontal surgical techniques.
- How to deal with atypical post-operative pain and infection.
- Presentation of a surgical procedure on two patients with interactive feedback between surgeon and participants.
- Participated in a hands-on laboratory exercise.
- Presentation of a surgical procedure on two patients with interactive feedback between surgeon and participants.
- Participated in a hands-on laboratory exercise.

Biographies
Dr. Gerry Pearson is an Associate in Dentistry and an Instructor in the post-graduate program in the Division of Periodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. Dr. Pearson has lectured extensively across North America and maintains a private practice limited to periodontics and implant dentistry in North Toronto.
Dr. Steven Corber is involved in teaching in the Graduate Periodontics program at the University of Toronto and has lectured for many dental societies and for the RCDS (O). Dr. Corber maintains a private practice limited to Periodontics and implant dentistry in Toronto.
